Houston Child Therapist

Some Evening Availability Required

Houston, Texas
Heights Family Counseling

Heights Family Counseling is growing and we are looking for a thoughtful, skilled therapist in Houston who is passionate about working with children and equally committed to supporting their parents.

This role is ideal for a clinician who loves child therapy but understands that meaningful change happens when parents feel equipped, supported, and empowered.

Who We Are

Heights Family Counseling is a boutique group practice with locations in Houston Heights and Alamo Heights in San Antonio. We value depth, warmth, collaboration, and excellence. Our culture is grounded in a human first philosophy. We are a group of clinicians who care deeply about our clients and about one another.

We believe in consultation, teamwork, continued learning, and creating an environment where therapists are supported, not isolated.

The Role

We are seeking a therapist who:

• Has strong child therapy skills and enjoys working with elementary through high school clients
• Is comfortable moving between play based interventions and parent coaching within the same treatment plan
• Values collaboration with caregivers, teachers, and other professionals
• Can help parents understand behavior through a developmental and relational lens
• Is confident offering parent coaching and guidance, not just child focused sessions

This position may include a mix of child therapy, parent sessions, and some adolescent or family work depending on your strengths.

Preferred but Not Required

We welcome clinicians with a niche or specialized training, such as:

• EMDR
• Play therapy
• ADHD assessment or coaching
• Executive functioning support
• Trauma informed modalities
• Parent training models

If you bring a specialty, we will help you grow it. If you are still developing your niche, we will support that growth as well.

The Right Fit

You might be a strong fit if you:

• Value clinical depth and evidence based care
• Want to collaborate rather than practice in isolation
• Appreciate feedback and consultation
• Care about documentation, professionalism, and follow through
• Want to be part of a practice that prioritizes culture and integrity

We are looking for someone who sees parents as part of the treatment process and feels comfortable helping them shift patterns, not just manage behaviors.

What We Offer

• Competitive compensation
• Flexible scheduling
• Administrative support
• A collaborative team environment
• Ongoing consultation and professional growth
• A practice culture that values both excellence and humanity
• Competitive benefits, such as PTO, insurance, holiday pay, and 401K

If you are passionate about helping children thrive and empowering parents to lead their families with confidence and connection, we would love to hear from you.

How to Apply

To apply, please send your resume to amyrollo@heightsfamilycounseling.com and a brief statement about your clinical interests and approach.

Heights Family Counseling Team Photo

We started everything in a small art studio in Houston, and our love of humanity and each other grew the practice to expand to our other heart in Texas, San Antonio. The owner, Dr. Amy Rollo, spends half her time in the Houston Heights and the other half right outside of San Antonio on a small lake in Seguin. We have a Lead Clinician taking over San Antonio with deep roots in the amazing city, and would love collaborative, caring, enthusiastic therapists to join her.

As a practice, our culture is LGBTQ+ friendly. We pride ourselves in being able to treat in a systems orientation, so we love to have a counselor with a strong niche’, including play therapy, child therapy, EMDR, couples therapy, sex therapy, and more.

We believe in being the place that can support the whole family, as well as individuals, so we are open to anyone with a strong niche and desire to learn.

We also love treating our emerging adults and 20 somethings!

As a practice, we tend to work with successful, high achievers looking to invest in themselves. Therapists should show up with the same enthusiasm. While understanding diagnostics is a plus, we often work in understanding a person’s story and allowing the client to make sense of it. Most of the time, people just need to be understood for change to take place.

HFC hires therapists wanting to work as a team, collaborate, and build others up.

As we continue to grow to serve our amazing state, we want to make sure that our team shows the beautiful diversity of our amazing state. LGBTQ+, BIPOC, diversity in religion, age, and all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply!
