Healing happens in relationship.
The ways we learn to survive in our families can be the very ways of being that create so much stress, struggle, and stuckness in adulthood. As a relational, trauma-informed therapist, my clients have a teammate and a guide in me while they explore things like boundary work, learning how to safely feel and express heavy feelings like anger, noticing how they feel most understood, and examining patterns of behavior that are comfortable or familiar but getting in the way of living more of the life they want. With my support, the goal is not to shield you from the weight of your emotions or that which feels overwhelming. It's to help you develop the confidence, tools, and resilience to hold the boundary, assert your needs, or do the scary difficult things standing in between you and the joy of a fulfilling, engaging life.
I specialize in working with adults and couples who are navigating life transitions, emotional distress, and personal challenges, including:
Anxiety & Depression
Boundary work
Self Neglect
Exploration of gender and orientation
Communication in relationships
Building stronger intimacy
Maintaining recovery from addiction
Trauma processing work
THERAPY FOR ADULTS
Whether you are someone trapped in the anxiety and overwhelm of chronically overfunctioning or trapped in the shame and overwhelm of feeling stuck and underfunctioning, I can help. With compassion, new insights, shifted perspective, and the courage that comes from being on your own team, you'll discover your capacity for change. My clients learn how to be kind to themselves without encouraging complacency. They learn how to hold themselves accountable without relying on shame and cruel self talk as a motivator for action or change. And they become more clear about what they want from their relationships, how to communicate that with confidence, and also how to feel safe to express love with both boundaries and vulnerability.
I also specialize in supporting queer and trans individuals as they explore gender and orientation within the broader context of identity formation. Together, we’ll unpack what feels authentic, discover personal truths, and build a secure foundation for self-acceptance and empowerment.
Couples THERAPY
In my work with couples, I focus on fostering the building blocks of healthy communication. Through proven strategies and parts work, such as Internal Family Systems, I help couples reconnect, heal wounded trust, and dissolve the resentment that can arise from chronic miscommunication or misunderstandings. My approach encourages couples to participate in conflict that builds connection through empathy and curiosity, empowering each partner to communicate openly and become a safe person to be vulnerable with. In this way, couples experience a deeper trust and stronger, more dimensional intimacy.
Additionally, I am very passionate about offering support for couples experiencing unique challenges, such as navigating a partner’s gender transition or adjusting to a mixed-orientation relationship.
addiction and compulsive escapism
For those in recovery from addiction or escapist behaviors, I provide support that focuses on nervous system regulation and self-exploration. My goal is to help clients develop resilience and confront difficult emotions without relying on avoidance. By engaging with the parts of self that seek to numb or escape, clients learn to experience life fully and find meaningful, sustainable paths to recovery.
MY APPROACH
I utilize a trauma-informed approach to create a safe and inclusive space where healing and navigating personal growth can occur in a deeply meaningful way. I understand that while identity isn’t defined by any single aspect of a person, cultural heritage, family expectations, and oppressive social systems influence one’s path. Our work will be grounded in empathy and a respect for your unique story, supporting you as you navigate the intersections of identity, belonging, and self-discovery.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I am a Houston native, though I believe I really found myself while living in Austin. I absolutely love music. I think it’s a time machine, as it is somehow a phenomenal medium for capturing a feeling and a memory. Live music is one of my favorite things to experience, but it’s been just as exciting to collect vinyl over the last ten years. My parents had a fantastic vinyl collection when I was a kid, but it got destroyed in a flood. I get as much joy now as I did then thumbing through a stack of albums, looking at the album art. Nothing moves my heart quite like watching dance. The Houston Ballet is such a gift to our city. I also love to do some of the standard stuff: reading, movies, traveling as often as I can, trying new restaurants (I’m former industry and have a passionate appreciation for service and good food).
My own experiences with depression and my relationships with people in addiction were and are my biggest motivators for being a therapist. Life can be so incredibly hard. No one should ever have to feel alone when they need people the most.
LET’S BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY
Therapy is not a solo journey—you don’t have to do it alone. Wherever you are, I’ll meet you there. You have a teammate in me, and together we can move toward the life, connection, and peace you deserve.
