Life is full of beautiful moments and adversity. I want to celebrate the joyous parts of life with you and work through those painful moments. Sometimes we find ourselves hiding important parts of ourselves from those around us for fear of not being accepted, trying to protect others, or not wanting to face difficult areas of our life. My goal is to create a safe space for you to bring your whole self. I believe sometimes you need to fall apart to start putting the pieces back together, and I hope to develop a trusting relationship with you so you can do just that.
My approach to therapy is warm and focused on meeting you where you are. I will work collaboratively with you, putting you in the driver’s seat of your treatment plan and well-being. I believe mutual trust in the therapeutic relationship and a feeling of acceptance in therapy are the most important tools to successful therapy. In session, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, Gottman Method Couple Therapy, and a person-centered orientation. I have worked with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and other mental health concerns. I strive to provide clients with more adaptive coping strategies and identify areas of self-growth while building a space of healing.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling to National Parks, hiking, paddle boarding, reading mystery novels, playing tennis, eating good food, and spending time with my husband and two dogs. I live a mostly active lifestyle and feel renewed by connecting with nature, but I often recharge by staying in and watching comedy tv shows and documentaries.
Morgan Phelps, M.S., NCC, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the CACREP program at Texas A&M University – Commerce. She is trained as a Certified Trauma Professional.
