November Position of the Month: Hot Squat- From Our Certified Sex Therapist

Katie Mitchell, M.A., Certified Sex Therapist

November’s highlighted position of the month is the Hot Squat.  A sexual experience is a wonderful time to emotionally connect with one another, but it can also be an excellent time to do something physical and exercise together!  As usual, I highly recommend doing some light stretching together (either beforehand or on a daily basis) to help avoid injuries and/or muscle cramps that might arise during a sexual experience – as these are the most common sexual injuries.

This is a great position for empowering the partner that will be penetrated – plus, it provides a great view of the squatting partner’s bouncing upper body.  Ideally, you and your partner can try out this position on a soft surface, like a bed, or try laying a soft blanket or towel down on carpet or rug.  The penetrating partner will lay flat on their back, with their knees bent towards their chest.  The partner being penetrated will squat over their partner’s erect genitals or strap-on, facing towards one another (this might take some work to find the right fit for the two of you, as your legs might end up a bit intertwined).  The same squatting partner can also lean towards their partner’s legs and grab their hands for support.  The partner laying on their back can rest their legs/feet on or right above their squatting partner’s hips.  The squatting partner is the one that will take the lead on developing a thrust rhythm that works for you both, but both are welcome to work together to find a rhythm that is pleasurable for both.  With thrusting, it is always a great idea to start slower and then speed up – again helping to avoid injuries.  As a heads up - for the squatting partner, this position will work their glutes and quads.  For the penetrating partner, this position will work their chest, abdominals, and adductors.

Due to the complexity of this position, I would recommend being conscious of foreplay prior to trying out this position and be sure to have lubrication on hand.  This can be especially important when trying out new positions that are not as routine for each of you; plus, it is always nice to have it be a grab away versus realizing you are completely out!

I hope you and your partner have a fun time adding something new to your sexual repertoire with this position!  For more information for this specific position (including image) can be found on page 130 of The Kama Sutra Workout, and this book can be purchased from Amazon here.
