I know the decision to seek out therapy can feel like navigating uncharted waters. I want you to know that I am here to guide you on the journey with compassion and patience. As your therapist I will support you by providing a safe environment to feel heard and to process a range of difficult emotions you may be experiencing. There are probably many reasons that have led you to this decision and none of them are easy. I want you to know that whatever the issue or concern, nothing is too small or unimportant and anything you choose to share with me holds value, because it is a part of you and your experience.
My focus is adolescents and adults going through any life transitions, stress, or feelings of anxiety or depression. Additionally, special focus areas of mine are grief, individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, and older adults and issues surrounding chronic illness and aging. I also understand every client has unique needs and I am mindful about tailoring sessions to fit these specific needs depending on concerns and culture.
I take a person-centered approach during my sessions with clients. This creates a nonjudgmental atmosphere where you are the expert and can feel empowered to share your burdens and difficulties without fear. I also incorporate elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and cognitive approaches within the counseling room. In our sessions you can expect for us to work on accepting difficult emotions, cultivating mindfulness, and overcoming distressing situations by taking meaningful action according to your values. Although we experience difficult periods in our lives, some lasting longer than others, we will work together to help move you toward a more fulfilling life and out of suffering. My desire for you is to grow in resilience and above all self-compassion, gradually feeling stronger and more capable to live your life.
Outside of the therapy room l am most likely trying to catch up on the never-ending streaming shows and movies. I love going for runs at the park, exercising at the gym, listening to music, and spending time with friends on the weekend having a game night or finding a new favorite spot to eat in the city. My favorite moments though are when I’m soaking up time with my niece and enjoying being an uncle.
