Physical intimacy is most rewarding when it’s pleasurable and also connecting, playful, and safe! One position that combines freshness with comfort is The Pretzel Dip. This side-angled, semi-upright position is excellent for couples who want to blend deep connection with creativity.
Set-Up: In The Pretzel Dip, the receiving partner lies on their side with the bottom leg extended and the top leg bent at the knee. The penetrating partner kneels or crouches between their partner’s legs, positioning themselves at an angle that allows for penetration while holding onto or supporting the bent leg. The result is a “twisted” effect that feels cozy and intimate. Due to the body alignment, this position naturally encourages slower movements, though this can easily be altered for more intensity as desired. As always, communication is essential! Partners should discuss comfort, pressure, and movement as they adjust into the position.
Benefits:
· Unique angles of stimulation: The alignment of hips in The Pretzel Dip allows for new sensations, including potential G-spot or prostate stimulation, depending on the angle.
· Promotes comfort and closeness: The semi-reclined nature of the position makes it less physically demanding than upright or standing positions. It offers comfort while still maintaining a sense of playfulness.
· Encourages emotional connection: The position allows for face-to-face closeness and eye contact, which helps deepen emotional intimacy. Partners can kiss, touch, or talk while maintaining rhythm.
· Balances control and surrender: The receiving partner has freedom to adjust the placement of their leg and angle of their body, while the penetrating partner guides rhythm and depth. This balance makes it collaborative and connected.
· Playful yet grounding: The Pretzel Dip brings newness without being overly strenuous, making it ideal for couples looking to experiment without feeling out of their comfort zone.
Tips for Success:
· Support the bent leg: The penetrating partner should hold or support the lifted leg gently, ensuring comfort and avoiding strain.
· Use pillows for alignment: Placing a pillow beneath the receiving partner’s hip or back can improve comfort and enhance the penetration angle.
· Start slow: Begin with gentle, rocking movements before experimenting with deeper penetration or varied rhythms.
· Stay playful and present: The uniqueness of the position lends itself to laughter, touch, and playfulness; lean into the fun of it.
· Have lube nearby: To keep things smooth and comfortable, lubricant can reduce friction and increase pleasure.
· Check in frequently: Because of the “twist” in body alignment, checking in ensures that both partners remain comfortable and fully engaged.
I often encourage couples to explore positions that balance novelty with comfort and connection. The Pretzel Dip is a perfect example! It’s accessible, fun, and allows for both emotional intimacy and physical pleasure. It reminds us that sex doesn’t always have to be acrobatic to feel exciting.
Try The Pretzel Dip this month and discover how a playful twist can bring both comfort and passion back into your connection.
