Life is an adventure and too many people attempt to journey alone. At times paths are needed with a guide. Counseling provides you with a safe place to process emotions and life experiences. If you feel stuck and do not know how to move forward, I can help you. As your therapist, I will help you on your journey towards self-healing and empowerment.
I work with children, teens, and adults who are experiencing an array of different distress from life’s transitions. I have experience working with clients experiencing anxiety, are on the autism spectrum, ADHD, depression, grief, trauma, single parenting, domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, PTSD, life –adjustments, self-esteem, and body image issues. When working with children and teens I believe working together as a team fosters an environment of positivity and change. I come from a person-centered background that emphasizes an empathic approach to empower clients. Each client is unique and I utilize an integrative approach that uses different theories tailored to the needs of my clients.
I enjoy working with couples and helping them recognize unproductive cycles. I work through the lens of Gottman Couples Therapy and have completed levels 1 and 2. Helping couples understand the other perspective, cherish each other, and provide a better understanding of why they keep experiencing the same fight over and over again is a joy to do in the counseling room.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have provided counseling in both languages to individuals in the Houston community for over two years. Please don’t let language stop you from reaching out for services.
When I am not in session, I love spending time outdoors. I enjoy hiking, camping, biking, and kayaking. I also love to travel, cook new recipes, and enjoy spending time with my loved ones. Mireya Pava, M.S., LPC, NCC earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. She has completed Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman Couples Therapy.
