Marvin Nemons IV
Therapy for Children, Teens, Adults, Couples, and Families
Taking the first step toward counseling is an act of courage, and I’m honored to walk alongside you in that process. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. I believe healing happens in relationships, when we feel truly understood, we gain the freedom to explore our experiences with honesty and curiosity.
I work collaboratively with clients to uncover patterns that may be keeping them stuck and to develop greater insight into their emotional world. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, family challenges, identity development, or past wounds, I aim to support your growth with warmth, authenticity, and respect.
Working with Children and Teens
I have a strong passion for working with children and adolescents and specialize in helping younger clients build confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience. I use a strength based, solution focused approach while integrating cognitive behavioral therapy and child centered play therapy to meet each child at their developmental level.
I frequently support children and teens navigating anxiety, school related stress, emotional regulation challenges, family transitions, and self esteem concerns. I believe meaningful change happens when children feel safe, understood, and empowered, and I work closely with parents throughout the process to strengthen connection, improve communication, and create lasting change at home.
Couples and Family Therapy
I have advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Levels 1 and 2, and I use this structured, research based approach to help couples move out of negative cycles and into more secure, connected relationships. The Gottman Method focuses on strengthening communication, increasing emotional attunement, and building skills that help couples manage conflict more effectively.
I support couples in rebuilding trust after betrayal, navigating disconnection, addressing patterns related to conflict or avoidance, and deepening emotional and physical intimacy. In family work, I focus on improving communication patterns, strengthening relationships, and helping families better understand one another in a way that fosters respect and connection.
Working with Adults and Men’s Issues
In my work with adults, I help clients explore patterns related to anxiety, identity, relationships, and life transitions. I integrate insight oriented work with practical strategies to help clients better understand themselves while making meaningful changes in their day to day lives.
I also have a particular interest in working with men’s issues, including emotional expression, stress, relationship challenges, and navigating expectations around identity and success. I aim to create a space where clients can show up authentically, process openly, and build a stronger sense of clarity and direction.
Psychological Evaluation and Testing
In addition to therapy, I provide psychological testing services as a trained psychometrist at Heights Family Counseling. Through my clinical training and internship, I have received extensive, hands on experience in the administration, scoring, and integration of cognitive, academic, and emotional assessments.
I work closely with our evaluation team throughout the assessment process, contributing to comprehensive evaluations that help clarify concerns related to attention, learning differences, and emotional functioning. This background allows me to bring a deeper understanding of each client’s strengths and needs into the therapy room, leading to more personalized and effective care.
What You Can Expect
Together, we will explore your emotional patterns, inner dialogue, and the impact of past relationships while developing practical tools for your present. My aim is to create a space where your story is honored, your strengths are recognized, and you feel empowered to make meaningful changes.
A Bit About Me
Outside of counseling, I enjoy exploring local art galleries and museums, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I believe in the importance of balance and self reflection, and I bring that same spirit of curiosity and care into my work as a therapist.
