As a counselor, I understand the bravery it takes to be completely vulnerable with another individual. My role in the counseling room is to meet you right where you are with respect, compassion, and non-judgment. I find it a privilege to journey with a client.

There is something empowering about feeling completely seen and heard and being met with empathy and understanding. My approach is warm and down-to-earth, meeting each client with compassion and support. My expertise is working with individuals experiencing life stressors, including determining values and finding meaning and purpose in life, work-life balance, stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenthood, family stress, and the ending of a relationship. I believe we all have a reason for how we got to where we are in life. The narratives we tell ourselves shape our identities. My approach is to help you understand new perspectives, gain control of your life, and envision a new future.

In addition to specializing in high achievers, such as athletes, C-suite executives, business executives/consultants, attorneys, entrepreneurs, and business owners, I have a particular love and passion for working with helpers. My work and research have included understanding burnout, compassion fatigue, and helper syndrome. I love to offer therapists, psychiatrists, doctors, and other helpers a safe place to process emotions; a place to receive without any fear of judgment or need to give back.

Relationships are such an important part of our life. When going well, they provide love, support, and mutual happiness. When relationships struggle, sometimes it seems like everything in our life is struggling. I have a relaxed style when working with couples. I find it a privilege to enter a couple's personal and private world in order to change negative cycles and help to understand each other's perspectives. Together, we find a way to strengthen the relationship, speak each other's love language, heal through past pains, thrive through conflict, build mutual admiration and friendship, and communicate more effectively. I believe that every couple has the ability to work towards a loving and fulfilling relationship. In order to introduce change in your relationship, I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Gottman Couples Therapy (Completed all 3 Levels), PACT Couples Therapy (in process of level 1 training), IMAGO Relationship Therapy, Solution Focused, and other attachment-based theories, such as Emotion Focused Couples Therapy. In addition to comprehensive training in couples modalities, I am extensively trained in working with couples who have experienced trauma and affairs as well as couples who struggle with addiction. I have completed the Gottman Treating Affairs and Trauma training intensive, as well as the Couples and Addiction Recovery.

I understand the struggle that can occur when your child is having trouble at home, school, or with peers. I have over 20 years of experience performing evaluations that allow parents to understand their child’s unique strengths, as well as provide a roadmap to help their child. As a parent myself, I am a firm believer that a child is more than their diagnosis. I go beyond diagnostics and also recognize strengths in order to provide recommendations for success. In addition to decades of evaluation experience collaborating with medical doctors, psychologists, and speech therapists, I have years of experience as a researcher. Part of my research interests have included AD/HD, and the impacts on marriage, family life, and work. Subsequently, it is a joy evaluating adults as they seek to understand how they function and learn how to manage the impacts in their every day life.

When I am not in session, I enjoy spending time with my family. We split our time between Houston and our country/lake living just outside of San Antonio. I have 2 school-aged children, a husband of 20 years, an extremely active hound dog mutt, energetic golden retriever puppy, and a British Fox Red Labrador Retriever. I’m a huge believer in the value of experiences. You will find me spending my time running, weight lifting, boating, kayaking, on my spin bike, enjoying wines, playing cards with my family and other board games, playing tennis, coaching my kids’ sports teams, spending time on any beach with my family, cuddles with my kids, traveling the world, and checking out all the dining options in Houston, the Hill Country, and in San Antonio!
