Same familiar faces, same techniques, from the comfort of your home or our office. Now offering in-person and virtual options!

As humans, we are relational beings. We all want to connect to others and have fulfilling relationships. We understand that relationship problems can be very painful for all involved.

When relationships are going well, it feels like your whole world is better. When your relationship is struggling, it feels like your entire world is crumbling.

What most couples don't realize is that research shows the majority of fights in a relationship have no solution. In fact, they are perpetual problems. This means that most couples keep fighting over the same things, and their fights keep playing out the same way. Many couples wait 6 years once problems arise before entering counseling. That’s 6 whole years of playing out fights on repeat. We can help with that!

Heights Family Counseling Specializes in Providing High Quality Couples Therapy & Marriage Counseling

Our couples counselors use a variety of interventions to help strengthen your relationship including Gottman Method, IMAGO Relationship Therapy, PACT, Solution-Focused, and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy.

The gottman method

All of our couples therapists are trained in Gottman Couples Therapy. This is the most researched based couples intervention. Furthermore, Many of us have achieved the highest level training through the Gottman Institute.

Gottman Couples Therapy can work for couples who experience even minimal conflict and difficulties, and can help stop dysfunctional patterns of even the most high conflict relationships!

The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy & Marriage Counseling are:

  • Thrive during conflict- this is a fancy way of saying fight fair and fight to understand

  • Increase emotional and physical intimacy, mutual respect

  • Create a heightened sense of empathy and attachment

We speak the language of couples and often know that the words used to navigate fights are not the intentions of the partners. We help couples dig deeper in order to create a more meaningful and lasting connection. Read more about the benefits of the Gottman Method by reading our blog on Predictors of Divorce and our blog on the Four Horsemen.

Affair Recovery

Affairs are much more common than we realize, and they can shake the relationship to its core. Many times, the betrayed partner is left with PTSD/trauma, as their world was suddenly flipped upside down. Often, each partner feels shame and embarrassment and are unable to talk about the betrayal outside their partnership. Many couples wonder if their relationship will ever feel the same again.

The counselors at Heights Family Counseling are extensively trained in the Gottman Couples Therapy Method, including the Gottman Treating Affairs and Trauma training intensive. Through these researched and proven methods, couples learn the steps to rebuilding and recreating marriages.

The desired outcome for affair recovery counseling is to have a stronger marriage than before the betrayal.
